Ring & Pinion

The Pinion housing, located in the lower left portion of the picture, supports the pinion shaft with two oversized support bearings and a specialized spacer for  setting the pinion preload.

The differential case contains a baffled breather system which supports both mid-engine and tail-dragger configurations.

The ring and pinion, utilizing a 4.13 gear ratio, is set on center.  This configuration efficiently reduces friction, and therefore heat, while delivering more power.
